A long weekend begins

I’m feeling full.  Very full.  Its my own fault – tonight I made a ratatouille that had red wine in it and I ate lots of it, coupled with bread dipped in olive oil.  I’m sure that I probably had far too many calories, but since I don’t calorie count, I don’t really care.  That’s not why I am blogging.

This morning I was laid in bed with MBW and various in the compliment of children that we have, when Monkey piped up:

I want to go to the beach, Mummy…

Now, I don’t go to the beach.  There is a simple reason for this – I can’t access the beach.  My front wheels dig in, my back wheels get sand in them and I typically don’t move very far, unless the far is ‘away’ from the beach. Its not normally something I lament, but this morning I did, because the above was accompanied:

… with Daddy.

Now that made me sad.  So, here is a promise to myself – to Monkey – and please do not let me forget it:

Next time I have the use of a Molten Rock Boma, I will take Monkey to the beach.

Talia the Chimp looking at Monkey and Entropy

MBW and I then took her younger sister, Entropy, with Monkey, Nuzzle and Scratch to the zoo.  (We also invited her younger brother Chaos, but he wasn’t interested.)  I have a favorite thing – the Tamarin Monkeys, who will often come and climb up on my lap – and MBW likes the chimps.  There is a younger chimp, that is about 3 years old, called Talia.  Talia often takes an interest in Monkey if she has brought a dolly with her or (like today) a Mr Tumble toy.  Talia followed Monkey and Entropy, which gave a cute picture.

That was pretty much most of my day – time for Doctor Who on the iPlayer – and please, no spoilers.

I’m excited.

I’ll grant you, the title is misleading because actually, my life is very exciting, but never the less, I am excited.

Very excited.

So excited, that I am.

In silly short paragraphs.

To get across the excitement in me.

But why?  What could possibly get me excited that it makes me alienate half my readers by writing in the most annoying way possible?  Well, to tell you I need to flash back to this morning… all together now, in the style of “Wayne’s World” (See this silly rip off)…

I recieved an email entitled “Walk Colchester”.  I’m fairly sceptical of anything I can’t do very well as being any good.  You might think this is rather daft, but I’m also sceptical of eating nuts and singing in public – you’ll thank me in the long run for not wanting to do the latter.  Anyway, I opened it.  It started about a group wanting to raise support to buy a mobility device to help disabled people getting out into the countryside.  I read on and then saw the words…

Molten Rock Boma

Woahhhhh there (or as Cowboys say “Stop there Horse”).  My off-road mobility device of choice… I read on.  They are having a demonstration.  How exciting!  I read on… Wednesday, 22nd June – Highwoods Visitors Centre?  Fair Access 2 Colchester (FA2C)? Wooohoo!  14:30?!  Yes please!

So – the date went into my diary… but then it raised another possibility.  So we’re going to see if we can borrow the Boma after for a trip to Norfolk.  Oh yes.  Kick bottom.  Very excited now 🙂

So – that was my day.  I’m very excited…

The Thursday Theory

Thursday’s have a habit of being crap.  In fact, usually – they’re shit.  I was in a fairly shit mood this morning, mostly because for two nights running I’d been late home and had minimal sleep again.  A sound off to the station manager about the fact that I’m personally suffering, which I think has probably pissed people off but oh well…

Then MBW phones to tell me she’s bumped the car… thankfully she and the girls are all ok – it’s the perils of a horrible car park.  Damage is minimal and frankly, I’d rather damage to the car than to any of the gals inside.  But it means another insurance claim… oh well.  Time to save some cash up, I think.

Anyway, oddly, from there it got better… some of my colleagues in the office think it’d be a good idea to fund raise to buy a Molten Rock Boma.  We need some ideas but a session at the pub might sort that one out.

The reason I’d like one is because I want to take the girls out to the beach or round a country park… and I independently cannot do that.  It’s difficult because being a father, I want to be able to do the fun stuff after they become toddlers.  Hence – I’d love a Boma.

But I’ve saved the best bit until last… Nuzzle was having a cuddle and play with me, whilst Scratch was sat on MBW… but she wanted to join in – so she commando crawled over the sofa to give Nuzzle a big kiss!  This is one of the things I love about being Daddy – the crawling to join me, to play and have some fun together…   They both enjoyed a lovely play which made my day, frankly.  Daddy rules.
